Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from Piastri by one point after his victory in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, if briefly, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
The Japanese spun out over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the fast downhill corner leading to the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in 19th, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
