Fall Classic Final Game Draws 51 Million Audience Members Across the US, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The exciting extended clash where the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays by one run drew a aggregate 51 million watchers in the US, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB announced this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable game secured over 27 million audience members on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series matchup since the 2017 edition final game involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a 16% improvement over the previous finale between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 ranked fourth, the fourth game ranked 7th, the fifth game was 8th, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth place.

Global Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the climactic game averaged 11.6M watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English broadcast in Canada after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. local time, it averaged 12 million. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – drew 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a single network in Japan.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The full seven-game series averaged over 15.7 million viewers on Fox, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the first time after 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen audience growth for two straight years.

Including the opening game broadcast on Univision, the total American average was over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09M watchers, an eight percent rise over the previous year and Fox’s best postseason performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen different tongues.
