Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's initial title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after that period of 2023.

The win also means he has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to get a title is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his capacity to play at the top level was over.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an better service.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet defended four early break points in a close final set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
